Philosophy and Mission
The Primary Goals of Bishopswood are to live in community and to affirm the uniqueness of each person as a being created by God in God’s image.
We, members of the Bishopswood Board of Trustees and the director, see all members of the Bishopswood community as children of God. Further, in order to be true to our own faithfulness and to the Episcopal Church, our philosophical basis for being is strongly rooted in the Christian tradition. However, we fully understand that all community members, campers, and staff, do not call themselves Christians. It is not our suggestion that they should or our intention to coerce them into such. Our hope is to provide a healthy atmosphere in which honest caring and spiritual growth is nurtured.
Goals of Camp Bishopswood
For
each individual within the Bishopswood family to acquire an
increased sense of dignity and respect for him/herself and
others as unique creatures of God.- For each camp member to have a positive experience in community living, including both ministering to others and being ministered to.
- For each community member to become more understanding of the natural world and our stewardship of it.
For
each member of the Bishopswood family to have an enjoyable
experience -- FUN -- living and working with others in a loving
community
